Accommodation

M.I.I.L.A. offers you you the choice of staying in a homestay or in a student residence. As we know that your homestay or residence in Montreal will be your home away from home, we will do our best to place you in a home that answers your requests because we want you to feel comfortable.

All our host families and residences must answer to many criteria before being part of our accommodation network. Once inspected and selected, we make periodic evaluations and constantly update our data. We are dedicated to placing you in good families and residences in Montreal. All our host families and residences are safe, as close as possible to the school and easily accessible by public transportation.

Student Residences
Student Residences are usually a better option for more independent students. In a residence, you share an apartment with other roommates. As no meal plan is included, you have the liberty to cook for yourself or go to one of Montreal's little cafés or restaurants!

Each residence includes:

  • A single bedroom fully furnished (including a bed with pillows and bedsheets, a towel and a desk)
  • A shared fully equipped kitchen
  • A shared bathroom
  • A weekly cleaning service done in all common areas
  • An access to local phone (pre-paid cards can be purchased to make long-distance calls)
  • An access to laundry facilities (for a small fee) in the residence
  • An internet access sometimes available

Homestay

In a homestay, you will be well taken care of and you can practice your English or French language skills outside the classroom. You’ll be surprised how quickly your speaking improves when you’re immersed in a French or English environment from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. It is important to keep in mind that host families in Canada may differ from host families somewhere else in another country. Here in Canada, a host family can be composed of 2 parents and their children, a young couple with a child, a single mother with a teenager, or a retiree couple. But even though Canadian host families can be very different from one another, you will see that each single one of them will do their utmost to give you the best experience you can ever had in Montreal.

Each homestay includes:

  • A single bedroom fully furnished (including a bed with pillows and bedsheets, a towel and a desk)
  • A choice of 2 or 3 meals per day (you can tell your family which food you like and don’t like)
  • Bedsheets and towels washed every week
  • A shared bathroom
  • An access to laundry facilities
  • An access to local phone (pre-paid cards can be purchased to make long-distance calls)
  • An internet access sometimes available
  • Possible week-end activities with your host family

You are expected to keep your bedroom neat and tidy. You will have your own house key so please repect the security of your new home. Make sure you return the key when you leave.

Accommodations are usually located 20 to 45 minutes to the school by public transportation. Before joining a homestay or a residence, you will be notified the different house rules that will apply during your stay. It is important that you understand them and agree to abide by them for the length of your stay. Also keep in mind that your host family cares about you and might need to know your whereabouts for your own safety, therefore it is important that you communicate with them. Remember that requests are chronologically processed, therefore students who register at the last minute cannot be garranteed to have all their requests met, especially in peak season such as summer time.

Our staff will always be available should you feel the need to discuss about problems you may encounter in your new home.
